This list is my best-effort at providing details and links to Irish internet and computer-related groups and/or associations. The list is not exhaustive so if you know of others, please let me know. UPDATED: 6 June 2008

Digital Rights Ireland is a body devoted to defending civil, human and legal rights in a digital age.
::: DUBLIN PYTHON MEETUP GROUP
Python programming language enthusiasts.
::: HOTLINE.IE
Provides "an anonymous reporting service to members of the public who accidentally uncover illegal child pornography on the Internet. The service is supported and funded by the Internet Service Provider Association of Ireland".
::: INTERNET ADVISORY BOARD
Mission statement: "In relation to the illegal and harmful use of the Internet, including the issue of child pornography, to promote, support and monitor a system of self-regulation of the Irish Internet service provider industry".
Members "are drawn from the service provider industry, the gardai, government, education sectors, child protection interests and the legal profession".
::: INTERNET NEUTRAL EXCHANGE (INEX)
INEX "is an Internet exchange located in Dublin. Its objective is to provide high-speed, reliable and resilient IP traffic exchange facilities for both Irish and International internet service providers".
Also provides "online backbone traffic statistics".
::: INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS ASSOC OF IRELAND
"The aim of the association is to provide one voice for the Irish ISP industry at national, EU and International level. The association is represented at many government initiatives and provides a public point of contact for the media".
Site includes a "Code of Practice and Ethics of the ISPAI".
::: IRISH ASSOC FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING
"The aim of the Association is to promote the exchange of information between groups working in HPC in Ireland".
::: IRISH CITIZENS FOR TRUSTWORTHY EVOTING
The ICTE is "a group of ordinary citizens who believe that no electronic voting system can be trustworthy unless it includes a paper-based Voter Verified Audit Trail".

The ICS "is the national body for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Professionals in Ireland".

The IFSO "works to promote awareness of Free Software: software that comes with the freedom to study it, modify it, and redistribute it".

"The IISF was established primarily to improve the understanding and practice of Information Security within the business computer user community. This has grown to be a gathering of security professionals and practitioners from a variety of organisations".

Holds monthly meetings in Dublin from September to May. Runs web forum for exchange of views and information relating to Macintosh issues. Provides technical support via web board.

"An informal group of people who are interested in the development, design, maintenance, and operations of IP networks in Ireland".

The Irish chapter of the Information Systems Security Association. The ISSA "is the worlds largest not-for-profit professional body for information security personnel".

Government agency "established to provide advice, support and information on the use of information and communications technology (ICT) in education".

Mission is to "support, broaden and accelerate the take-up of Open Source Software (OSS) by business and the public sector in Ireland."

The IIA "is the professional body for those conducting business via the Internet from Ireland".

SCL's "objectives are to encourage the development of law; IT related law and their interrelationship". Has Irish chapter.
::: THE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS' GUILD OF IRELAND
This is "the Irish branch of SAGE, the professional body for System Administrators".
::: THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED COMPUTER SOCIETY
Established "mainly to meet the needs of blind and visually-impaired computer users in the area of general computer access". VICS is a Special Interest Group of the Irish Computer Society.
