ABOUT ME

Photo of Fergus CassidyThis site is owned and maintained by Fergus Cassidy, an Irish writer and freelance journalist (member National Union of Journalists). Currently studying for an MA in The History of the Media at University College Dublin.

DISCLOSURE: I've been a member of the Internet Society since 2000 and am a founding member of Digital Rights Ireland.

ETHOS COLUMN: From July 2000 to January 2006 I wrote a weekly column about new media and technology in the Sunday Tribune, an Irish national newspaper. The columns are archived on the left.

THE SITE IS DEDICATED TO: My mother Maura (1921-2000) and father Michael (1917-1986). Dad eagerly shared his life-long fascination with how and why, electronics in particular. In her battle with depression, Mam showed me the true meaning of 'no surrender'.

BUIOCHAS: To Gerard Siggins for leaving the door ajar. To The Sunday Tribune, where I was on staff from 1989 to 2006. I'm indebted to that paper's former business editor Brian Carey and former editor Matt Cooper for their encouragement and support.

I owe many pints to Michael Cregg and Adam Jewell [amp] for helping me to RTFM!
