Jennings for Icann board

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) has announced that Dennis Jennings will serve on its incoming board of directors.

Jennings holds a BSc and a PhD from University College Dublin and was director of computing services there from 1977 to 1999.

In the early 1980s, he played a key role in developing the National Science Foundation Net (NSFNet) in the US, a forerunner of today's internet.

He has also served on the board of Ireland's HEAnet and the Council for European Top Level Domain Registries (CENTR).

He is co-founder of 4th Level Ventures, a Dublin venture capital firm.

Jennings will on serve on the Icann board until 2010.
